Rare Performance of Bruce Springsteen’s Oscar-Winning Song at the Academy Museum Gala

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Bruce Springsteen took the stage Saturday night at the fifth annual Academy Museum Gala, performing his Oscar-winning song “Streets of Philadelphia”, originally written for Jonathan Demme’s 1993 film Philadelphia.
Springsteen, who has rarely performed the song in the 21st century, surprised the audience with an intimate acoustic rendition. Receiving the event’s Heritage Award, the 76-year-old musician also performed “Atlantic City” and “Land of Hope and Dreams.”
The appearance comes just a week before the release of Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White. Rolling Stone reports that Springsteen last performed “Streets of Philadelphia” in August 2024, and before that, in November 2012.
